Phil Tavolacci

Expert MFR Practitioner
MSPT

Phil Tavolacci graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ithaca College in 1994 with a BS in Exercise Science and then earned his MSPT from Virginia Commonwealth University (Medical College of Virginia) in 1998. Prior to opening TAVO Total Health, Phil worked in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, a busy outpatient sportsmedicine clinic, and then, immediately prior to starting his own clinic, directed a small outpatient clinic for a short while. Although Phil enjoys treating all issues and ailments, he is especially passionate about helping people with complex chronic issues that require a blend of his intuitive and technical skills. Phil's primary treatment modality is the John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach.

In 2005, when Phil's own complex chronic pain began to resolve rapidly via MFR, he knew he was meant to bring this remarkable modality to his clients at his new clinic! Phil has taken all of the courses offered in John Barnes' curriculum and loves teaching patients how to become their own therapist. Phil is constantly taking his knowledge and skills to the next level via varied continuing education coursework, transformational lifework (including a first-ever "Vision Quest" in the summer of 2011), and a belief that "there is always another piece of the puzzle and layer of the onion."

Outside of treating patients and running his clinic, Phil enjoys travel, reading, drawing and other creative pursuits. In 2013, he published his first book, What's In Your Web?: Stories of Fascial Freedom, available on Amazon.

Nyle MacFarlane received her Masters in Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science from Towson University in 2008. She founded Blue Nyle Therapy Services, LLC in 2008 and has worked in a variety of adult and pediatric settings, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Potomac Home Healthcare, and Dynamite Gymnastics. She found her life's calling when she attended her first John F. Barnes Myofascial Release seminar in 2009. She is uniquely trained to work with children and adults by using a combination of therapeutic interventions that include sensory integration therapy, therapeutic taping, positional release/ muscle energy, neurodevelopmental treatment, myofascial release, and Cranial Sacral fascial therapy. Her work with newborns and infants has proven effective in addressing issues often associated with birthing trauma, which include reflux and breastfeeding difficulties.

In addition to her work as an occupational therapist, she is the mother of two remarkable girls, MacKenna and Siobhan. While being a mother of two young girls allows for very little personal time, she strives for a healthy balance between work and family life with her passion for gymnastics, bicycling, camping, swimming, and meditation.
